May Day! RSVP to Salon No. 7 inside.

Here at Novella, we've accepted that our newsletter has doubled as a weekly almanac over the past couple of months. It's totally fine. Especially because it's May now and it's gorgeous and Salon No. 7 is here to bring you more life. Admittedly, it has been a little while but we promise, the wait has been worth it! So without further ado, scroll down to find out the prompt we'll be writing on, who with, and where you can share your stories with us later this month.

Your Inspiration for May

For the month of May, we thought about a lot of things. We thought about the cherry blossoms finally sprouting from the formerly barren trees in New York, we thought about Mother's Day being just around the corner, and how spring just feels like a new beginning, so "birth" felt right to us - and to our friend, Raven Ishak, Editorial Director of Chillhouse's digital relaxation destination, The Chill Times. That's why she'll be sitting as this month's Selected Speaker! We are so excited for her to share her interpretation of the theme with you all.

We'll be gathering at Lou & Grey to share our pieces around the prompt and, as mentioned in our earlier newsletter, we'll be able to accommodate twice as many attendees this time around so we're thrilled to connect with more of you this summer! (AKA, forward this to your girlfriends!)

As always, we invite you to respond to the prompt literally and figuratively: the onset of a new season, the kinship of a mother and daughter or found family, or how it feels to create something that is all your own. We want to know: what does "birth" mean to you?

You may respond to the prompt in whichever literary method you please: song, poem, short story, script, etc. All we ask is that you keep your work limited to a maximum of 2 pages or 5-7 minutes spoken aloud.
