We’ve been doing big things here at Novella — from our monthly salons and panels, to our newsletter and The Stacks, we’re proud that the first year of Novella has been about providing a safe space for all women to tell their unique stories.

But tbh, there’s a lot more we wanna do. And we often hear from you that you want to help.

So, we’re currently looking to bring on a couple talented new team members to help spread the Novella mission.

Our wish list for the perfect Partnership Assistant, and Editorial Assistant are below. If you believe in the mission, have at least 10 hours a week to spare, and are looking to gain experience and mentorship directly from our leadership team of rad WOC, we’re a pretty cool place to be.

Partnerships Assistant

Novella is seeking a highly motivated Partnerships Assistant to aid in sourcing, negotiating, and managing the execution of brand partnerships for our events, editorial content, and forthcoming podcast. Previous brand partners include AWAY, Dig Inn, Barneys New York, and more. This position will work directly under the CEO.

The ideal candidate is highly attentive to detail, timely, up to date on industry happenings (relevant social influencers, competitors, and potential brand alignments) and comfortable communicating with decision-makers at notable brands. You should also be well-spoken, well-written, and connect deeply with Novella's mission of empowering women writers. A truly outstanding candidate will also be influential in your community/on social media, and excited to share Novella's mission with everyone you know.

This is a part-time, commission-based position in NYC with flexible scheduling.

Responsibilities:

  • Source, compile, and maintain potential Novella partnerships document and spearhead email outreach

  • Maintain communications with Novella’s partners and keep all relevant parties up to date and on deadline before, during, and after (recap) partnership

  • Assist with execution of live partnerships, provide hands-on onsite support for team and partners

  • Support CEO/COO with preparation for new business pitches – presentations, research, set-up etc. (Deck-making capabilities a huge plus)

  • Handle inbound new business requests efficiently and route them to the relevant team member to develop

  • Attend 1-2 evening staff meetings per month

  • Research/compile information as needed

Qualifications:

  • Must be organized, detail-oriented, a strong communicator, and obsessed with news and trends in the brand/influencer/media space

  • 1-2 years experience in marketing/brand partnerships (internships welcome)

  • Familiarity with collaborative platforms such as Google Drive, Sheets, Docs, and Keynote

  • Must understand and connect with Novella's voice and mission

  • Eagerness to learn on the fly and expand beyond duties listed here

Editorial Assistant

Novella is looking for a highly motivated Editorial Assistant to aid in producing and publishing content on our site The Stacks and our e-mail newsletter.

The ideal candidate is highly attentive to detail, organized, and experienced using a variety of publishing tools. An outstanding candidate will also be an excellent writer, voracious reader, and connect deeply with Novella's mission of empowering and connecting women writers. A truly outstanding candidate will also be influential in your community/on social media, and excited to share Novella's mission with everyone you know

This is a part-time, unpaid position in NYC with flexible scheduling.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and publish posts on Novella's website and email newsletter

  • Transcribe interviews with notable women

  • Compile readers' writing submissions

  • Attend 1-2 evening staff meetings per month

  • Attend our monthly salons

  • Write and publish original content as needed

  • Research/compile information as needed

Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years publishing experience (may be internships or self-publishing)

  • Must be detail-oriented, a strong writer, and voracious reader

  • Must understand and connect with Novella's voice and mission

  • Familiarity with a variety of publishing platforms
